Re-weighing in front of you and laser codes: two safeguards

Every KBMC piece is re-weighed in front of you and carries its own laser code. Two small steps let you verify what you bought, today and years from now.

Jewellery is small and so are discrepancies, but with gold even 0.1 g is money. Kim Bảo Minh Châu uses two safeguards so you can verify the piece you receive.

Safeguard one: re-weighing in front of you

  • Trading scales carry a valid verification certificate, read to 0.001 g and are self-checked weekly.
  • Before handover, staff place the piece on the scale with the display facing you.
  • Actual weight is never below the tagged weight. More than 0.005 g off the record and the piece is withdrawn for checking; you choose another or wait.

Measurement rules for gold trading (Circular 22/2013/TT-BKHCN) require gold weight at sale to be no less than stated. KBMC sets a tighter internal tolerance and weighs in front of you.

Safeguard two: the laser code

Each piece carries a unique identifier, laser-engraved inside the band or on the clasp. The same code is printed on the tag, invoice and warranty card. It leads to the original record:

  • Purity test by X-ray fluorescence at the workshop
  • Weight on leaving the workshop
  • Stone grading report
  • Every service visit with weight before and after

Benefits for service and resale

  1. No mix-ups. Staff match the code at intake and at return, so you get your own piece back.
  2. No original papers needed. On buy-back KBMC finds the record by code; a lost paper invoice does not stop you selling by formula.
  3. Wear tracking. Polishing removes a tiny amount of metal; the record logs weight after each service.
